About the Teaching & Learning Track

The Teaching & Learning Track at the ACVO Annual Meeting is designed for educators, mentors, and program leaders committed to advancing excellence in veterinary ophthalmology training. This track will explore the evolution of competency-based veterinary medical education (CBVME)—highlighting where we are today and where we are headed as a profession.

Through interactive sessions and practical discussions, participants will examine current frameworks for competency assessment, Entrustable Professional Activities, workplace-based evaluation, and milestone development, as well as strategies for meaningful feedback and learner progression. The track will also look ahead to emerging innovations in CBVME, including outcomes-based training, programmatic assessment, and if we have time, the integration of educational technology.

Whether you are refining your residency program or shaping the future of ophthalmic education, this track offers actionable insights, shared experiences, and forward-thinking perspectives to support the development of competent, confident, and compassionate learners, whether they are veterinary student interns or our residents on the way to specialization

You may be scheduled to present as early as 8am on Thursday, and as late as 5pm on Saturday. All presenting authors agree to present in-person at the 2026 conference.
