  Michelle Willis

DVM, DACVO

Dr. Willis, a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists since 1998, is a native of Nova Scotia, Canada and a 1993 graduate of the Atlantic Veterinary College. Following a year-long rotating internship at the Small Animal Teaching Hospital at Michigan State University, Dr. Willis completed a Comparative Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.  Dr. Willis then held a faculty position at the at the Ohio State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital until 2001, when she relocated to a private referral practice in New England. She has co-trained residents in both the academic and private sector and has served on the AVCO Exam Committee. Dr. Willis has authored and co-authored original research papers, review articles and textbook chapters during her career, and lectures on ophthalmology and feline topics both locally and nationally. For the past 14 years, Dr. Willis has worked as an independent ophthalmology consultant in a feline-only practice in the Boston-MetroWest town of Arlington, Massachusetts (VCA City Cats Hospital). She welcomes veterinary students and colleagues to shadow her practice, consults virtually with colleagues, and provides several local feline shelters with ophthalmology guidance and professional support. Dr. Willis is a long-time member of the Feline Veterinary Medical Association and is a certified Cat-Friendly Veterinarian. She co-founded the Feline Forum at the annual ACVO meeting, now in its 4th year, with fellow feline-centric ophthalmologist, Dr. Ursula Dietrich, to promote interest in feline ophthalmology.
