Conference Introduction

Attend the 50th anniversary conference of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.

We cordially invite you to join ~1,000 of your veterinary ophthalmology colleagues for the ACVO’s 50th anniversary of the conference, in Maui, Hawaii! This cutting edge, scientific conference brings together approximately 800-900 veterinarians and technicians who represent the best in veterinary ophthalmology around the world, providing 17-22 hours of CE. The ACVO conference draws attendees and vendors from over 30 countries, and is held in the United States annually.

ACVO and AVOT registration will open May 1st, discounted fees are available for verifiable residents, interns and students. All conference attendees will receive access to online presentation recordings for the year they attend.

The schedule in Maui will be the traditional three-day schedule with a welcome reception Wednesday, abstract and poster presentations Thursday – Saturday, and likely additional concurrent or special interest courses throughout. A Residents’ Workshop is scheduled to be held. Tentatively the Vitreous Society, Teaching & Learning meeting, and General Practitioners’ courses will again be held but will need to confirm with the Diplomate organizers. It is yet to be determined if an additional lab/Master’s course or OSD sessions will be available this year.

Being that it is ACVO’s 50th anniversary of this conference, in a great location, the planning committee is considering some fun social events and Friday evening function on the beach! They are also working on an event to honor ACVO’s founders and Charter members, more on these plans will be available this spring.

The committee is also seeking feedback on the changes in Minneapolis, the Career Fair, the In-Depth speaker and the combination of the mentors’ lunch with the ABVO meeting. Feedback and scheduling will help them determine if these will again occur next year. A general schedule will be available next spring, and the abstract presentations are published in June.

The Planning Committee understands that Maui is a long trip for some, and promise to make it worth your while. This year the conference has secured the entire Ritz Carlton Kapalua, which is unparalleled for service and it amazing views. This location is 10 minutes north of Kaanapali Beach and 15-20 minutes north or Lahaina. Both are accessible through an easily accessible local shuttle serves for little or no money. The hotel offers a rotating shuttle to seven dining options very nearby, to accommodate the needs of those who choose not to reserve a car. This location and schedule will definitely be worth the trip! Plan to stay pre or post with an amazing rate.

Purchase on-line access to searchable, video recordings of sessions!
Conference presentation recordings (2011-current year) are available for purchase. This proprietary system allows the user to search topics, key words or speakers across all years’ presentations. All ACVO attendees will gain immediate free access included in their registration. Access can also be purchased by non-attendees for these and the General Practitioner courses for a fee. ACVO Members will receive access as a member benefit at three months plus one day.
