ANESTHESIA FOR OPHTHALMOLOGISTS LAB COURSE

Sunday, October 30, 2011
8:00am - 3:00pm
Lab Fee: $250.00

You do not have to register for the general conference to attend the anesthesia course.

Anesthesia course registration is going strong. This year the course will have a higher registration limit so you should be able to register up until September. Please note that the afternoon "dry lab" will have a slightly different format than last year. Dr. Lukasik will use interactive discussion and demonstration when concentrating on the use of ventilators for IPPV. This interactive demonstration will focus on troubleshooting ventilators and monitoring equipment (especially blood pressure and BP cuffs, hypercapnea, and arrhythmias).

The course is not going to be a split lecture and lab this year. There will be no separate lecture-only registration. The lab will end at 3pm (only 2 hours).

Dr. Victoria Lukasik, DACVA will present a 4 hour morning session, Sunday, October 30th, including updates on anesthesia drugs (examples include alternatives to propofol for induction, updates on neuromuscular blockers, new analgesics) and interactive case presentations - these follow the format of cases gradually presented with all clinical pathology findings, monitoring parameter changes during the procedure and discussion on troubleshooting problems as they arise. Members of ACVO's planning committee have attended similar sessions elsewhere and have found her presentations to be lively, entertaining and educational.

Who should attend:
We would welcome ACVO/ECVO Diplomates, ophthalmology society members, residents of any organization, general practitioners who do ophthalmologic work attending the conference and registered veterinary technicians.
